Fall in Fernwood Hollow

Days 3 and 4

I started off pretty good with the blogging, but life is wild with three little boys! Since this blog is my journal, I want to get in all the details......

On Friday Phillip, Evan and I went to the lakehouse after dropping the older boys at school. Evan is always asking us to take him to the lakehouse, so we headed out. It was chilly so Pop built us a fire and Evan got to play with all of the toys by himself and throw rocks in the lake. After picking up the boys from school, we had a little craft time (raining outside again). The boys made tons of cute christmas ornaments and were so proud of their work. Kyler had Basketball practice, so he and Pop went out to eat together and then to practice. Jayden, Evan and I went to Panera's (Jayden's favorite as well as mine) and had brocolli cheese soup (Yum).

Saturday we had 2 basketball games for the boys. Have I mentioned how much fun it is watching these little boys playing basketball?? Jayden is all over that ball - it is great to watch him. Kyler got to dribble the ball down the court TWICE! We spent Saturday afternoon at the lakehouse with Auntie M. The movers picked up all of her stuff on Saturday morning and she and James Alan left for San Antonio on Sunday, so it was good to spend some time with her. Even though it was very chilly, all of the boys got their feet wet throwing rocks in the lake. Melissa and Kerry got home at 7:45 and the house was totally dark. We'd been waiting in the dark about 30 minutes to scare them when they got home. I'm sure they were totally shocked when we all jumped up and yelled "SURPRISE." The boys were almost as happy to see their parents as Phillip and I were :)

Day Two

Today has been a good day. We got the boys off to school on time, but realized after getting home that we forgot to give Jayden his antibiotic, so had to go back. After going back to the school for the second time, we took Evan to Lowe's to hang out and then to the mall. They have a pretty cool play area for kids and since it was raining, we played there. We ate lunch at the mall, too. These Pitts boys are not like normal children...they love vegetables and fruits. Evan wanted noodles, so we got some Lo Mein noodles and some broccoli. He would take a bite of brocolli and say "ummmm." After the big boys got home, we made some halloween cupcakes and did crafts. Jayden had counted up that it is 64 days until Christmas, so me made a chain with 64 links to count down the days. We also painted some wood Christmas ornaments. These boys love to do crafts! They have been extremely good and it is great to spend this time with them. A few pictures of the boys enjoying their cupcakes and making crafts below:

Day One

Melissa and Kerry are celebrating their tenth anniversary in Las Vegas and Phillip and I are in Fayetteville keeping the boys. We arrived at 6:00 pm (they have had a babysitter here today). We had craft time and the boys have earned 8 stickers already. We are playing a game. We have a board with space for 48 single stickers (individual boy being good), 15 double stickers (two boys being good at the same time) and 5 triple stickers (all three boys being good at the same time). If they fill up the sticker board by Saturday, they will get their really cool surprise. So far, so good....

Jayden has a bad asthma cough and has had two breathing treatments already tonight. He is in bed and still coughing. I've never dealth with asthma before....makes me nervous....probably no sleep tonight.

It was such a beautiful day today! Phillip and I walked around Garvin Gardens....still playing with my new lense. A couple of shots:

Basketball

Phillip and I just LOVE watching our boys playing basketball! I am amazed at how fast-paced the game is... Look at Jayden...just a blurr! Amazing!

So focused, so intent....

This is Kyler's first year and he already has some amazing moves...

Rain, rain, go away....

My gosh it has been rainy lately. We had planned to head to NWA on Thursday morning, but the weather man was calling for rain all day, so we decided to wait until Friday. On Thursday, Phillip worked, I worked, and the sun was shining. Why do I listen to the weather man? Around 5:00 we just decided to hit the road. It didn't rain on us until we got to I-540. Then it rained hard! Melissa sent us a text that the tornado sirens were going off and they were all in the laundry room (including their company). I called Miranda and she was in her laundry room with her dogs. The wind was blowing, rain was coming down in sheets, and Phillip and I were both trying to keep the truck on the road. We made it to the lakehouse and it continued to rain hard all night. I think they said that Rogers got 4 1/2 inches of rain and Fayetteville got over 5 1/2. Friday morning I hear the weatherman say that the rain will be gone by around 10:30 am (yes, I'm still listening to the weatherman, will I never learn??). I called up the Pitts crew and told then to get ready -we can still go hiking at Devil's Den State Park as planned. It was still raining at 10:30, but I am optimistic and decide that it will quit by the time we get to the park. The rain continued and continued. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the temps...high today of 45! We had a fun afternoon, but didn't get to hike. We had our picnic in the covered pavillion and by the time we finished, the rain was just a light mist. The boys played at the playground and got soaking wet! Oh yes, the waterfall was amazing- so much water going over the falls!

Below you can see Jayden's legs...he was climbing up the chimney...why???

Hayride!

Last weekend (Oct. 3) we had our fall hayride. We began the day by joining the Mills family in celebrating the 2nd birthdays of Molly and Ben. Afterwards, Jenny and Matthew, and Kara, Tim and their 3 boys joined us for a hayride around our place. We had 7 little boys - all 7 years or younger - it was great! Below is a picture of our "fancy" lights :) These are Christmas lights - but they remind me of San Antonio...

All of the boys playing on the swingset:

The mothers of all of these little boys:

This picture has everyone except Ben. Ben wanted to drive the tractor, not ride in the trailer!

All of the boys are in this picture, but Matthew is hidden behind Ben. My battery died after this picture, so this is it....

They all had fun on the hayride and then we stood around the fire roasting marshmellows until around 8:30. There's just something about fire and little boys....

After all the company had gone home, we went in for baths. I just want to mention that I have never seen a shirt as dirty as Kyler's. I had to wash his T-shirt so that he could wear it to basketball practice the next day. I used half a bottle of spray-n-wash. It was equally dirty on the front and the back! How do little boys manage to get so dirty???

We bought a blu-ray player and had purchased "Monsters vs. Aliens" so we watched the movie before going to bed. By the time those little boys hit the bed they were out! It's the sign of a good day when they hit the bed and never say a word....
